There are few feelings more universal — and truly horrible — than tossing and turning at night, so we here at The Strategist have spent years trying to find all of the things to help you fall asleep easily and stay there. Since 2018, we’ve tested more than 35 mattresses and slept on more than 20 types of linen sheets. We’ve asked hoteliers to share their secrets for keeping their bedding crisp, conducted extensive research on the best blackout curtains, and gone deep on blue-light-blocking glasses to help you wind down. This has all yielded a deep catalogue of things to help you sleep better, including essentials like pillows and duvet covers and more niche creature comforts like a Bluetooth headphone headband that blocks out ambient noise.

Here, with the Strategist Sleep 100, we’ve dug deep through our archive to help you create the nighttime routine of your dreams. We know each person sleeps a little bit differently — some people run hot, some sleep on their sides or back, some snore, some share a bed with someone who snores — so we’ve done our best to find options for everyone (though we do have certain items that tend to suit most types of sleepers, including our favorite mattress and an over-the-face pillow that three celebrities have told us they can’t live without). Because sleeping sometimes has to happen away from home, we sprinkled in a few travel-specific products, like a compact battery-powered alarm clock and a few extra inches of airplane legroom in the form of a padded foot sling. And we considered both form and function to pick out a genuinely beautiful weighted blanket, a puffy robe handsome enough for a bodega run, and a color-changing nightlight that will trip out every middle-of-the-night journey to the bathroom.
